about

Perpetual Motion was formed in 1989 when guitarist Tom Carleno asked violinist Josie Quick to collaborate with him in new arrangements of his original compositions. Tom's innovative tunings and fingerstyle technique complimented Josie's classical training and passion for jazz, and Perpetual Motion was born. Described as 'Acoustic Jazz with a Classical Flair', they performed as a duo until 1993.

Percussionist/drummer Chad Johnson joined them on three tracks for their debut album, "Ready, Willing, and Able". The duo enjoyed working with him so much that they invited him to join them full time. Chad's unrelenting energy inspired compositions that had a jazzier sound, and that led to exploring even more influences, such as bluegrass and rock and roll.

They gained a following as a trio performing at concerts, music festivals, and coffee houses until undergoing another change in 1997, when bassist Matt Deason became the newest member of Perpetual Motion. Matt's creativity has added a new dimension to their sound.

This recording is the result of an evolution from a guitar and violin duo into a progressive jazz ensemble. We hope you enjoy the results!
